On behalf of the family, Dr. Aviral Malik, grandson of the late Shri Satya Pal Malik, has formally requested the Hon’ble Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, to confer the Bharat Ratna posthumously on his grandfather.

Shri Satya Pal Malik, appointed by Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi as the Governor of Goa, Odisha, Bihar, and Jammu & Kashmir, was widely respected as a leader of farmers and a statesman who consistently upheld national interests with dedication and integrity.

One of the most significant milestones during his public service was the successful abrogation of Articles 370 and 35A from the Constitution of India in 2019. At that time, Jammu & Kashmir was under President’s Rule, and Shri Malik, as the head of the state, directly reported to the Hon’ble President of India.

His crucial role in this historic constitutional reform paved the way for the complete integration of Jammu & Kashmir into the Indian Union.Conferring the Bharat Ratna posthumously would be a fitting tribute to Shri Malik’s lifelong commitment to national unity, farmers’ welfare, and progress.

The family has humbly appealed to the Hon’ble Prime Minister to kindly consider this request.
