Srinagar, Apr 9: The Kashmir Mountain Biking Association (KMBA) on Thursday organised a wheelchair race from SKICC Centaur Hotel to the Tulip Garden, drawing around 40 specially abled athletes in a spirited display of resilience, determination and sporting excellence.

The event, as per a statement issued, was formally flagged off by SSP City Traffic Police, Ajaz Ahmad Bhat, marking the beginning of an inspiring competition that witnessed the enthusiastic participation of around 40 specially abled wheelchair athletes, who displayed remarkable determination, resilience and competitive spirit.

The program was graced by the Chief Guest, Mathoora Masoom (JKAS), Director Floriculture Kashmir, who lauded the initiative and emphasized the importance of creating inclusive platforms for specially abled individuals. The event was further enriched by the presence of international cyclist Mohammad Akbar Khan, who joined to motivate and encourage the participants.

The event was led by Organising Head Muneer Ahmad, along with Rehana Bhat, Roshan Ara and the entire KMBA team, whose dedication, coordination and tireless efforts ensured the seamless execution and success of the program.

The competition featured multiple categories, including Under-18 (Boys & Girls) and Above-18 (Boys & Girls).

All participants were honored and rewarded by the Kashmir Mountain Biking Association for their inspiring participation. The position holders were formally felicitated with certificates and momentous as a gesture of recognition and encouragement. The atmosphere was filled with joy and pride, as participants expressed happiness and appreciation for the opportunity to showcase their abilities on such a platform.

The event was conducted under the visionary leadership of President KMBA, Mushtaq Ahmad Bhat and Vice President, Riyaz Ahmad, who continue to champion the cause of empowering specially abled individuals through sports and community engagement.
