20 Residents Fall Ill in Urpash, Ganderbal

Around 20 residents of Urpash area in Ganderbal suddenly fell ill, prompting health authorities to launch an immediate response.

Chief Medical Officer (CMO) Ganderbal told DAILY MAQSAD that both blood and water samples have been collected from the locality. “Some residents have tested positive for typhoid in blood sampling, while the water sampling report is still awaited,” he informed.

On being asked about the exact cause of the outbreak, the CMO clarified that the reason is not yet known and will be confirmed only after the water testing report is received.

He further added that a medical team was immediately dispatched to the area and he personally visited the spot to review the situation. “Treatment of the affected residents has been completed, and people have been advised to consume only boiled water as a precautionary measure,” he said.

Appealing for calm, the CMO stated: “We request residents not to panic. The situation is under control, and the health department is closely monitoring developments.”
