Will Resign Rather Than Ally With BJP For Statehood Restoration: Omar Abdullah
By Hayat Ubaid
Srinagar, Sep 30: Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Tuesday declared that he would rather step down from office than compromise by joining hands with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) for the restoration of statehood.
Speaking at a gathering in Achabal, Anantnag, Abdullah said statehood is the people’s constitutional right and not something to be traded for political deals. “If including the BJP in government is the only way, then take my resignation. Make any MLA here the chief minister and form the government with them,” he remarked.
Abdullah stressed that his stand is not about holding on to power but about upholding the dignity and aspirations of the people of Jammu and Kashmir.
